Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS) proudly announces the commissioning of the 1st Batch of the Sports Academy w.e.f. 01 Jul 2016. In all 78 Children (54 Boys and 24 Girls) have been selected for this ambitious project of the Society.
The arduous task of scouting for talent from across the 24 districts of Jharkhand was carried out by a team of officials from the Society and industry experts. A series of motor ability tests/ battery tests were conducted for the children from remotest districts and villages with due publicity. Around 12000 applications were received at the office of various coalfields and at Mega Sports Complex, Ranchi. After a scrutiny of applications, around 5000 children were called to participate in the open competition held in various districts of Jharkhand. A dedicated team of officials, sports men, volunteers came forward to assist the cause. Those children who could not fill up and submit their forms earlier were also invited to appear for the tests on site. A detailed report was thereafter prepared with a list of Top 413 Students strictly as per merit and performance duly depicting the marks obtained in various tests in Phase-I. These students were thereafter invited for another set of Tests (set of battery tests) at the Mega Sports Complex, Khelgaon, Ranchi. After these tests were conducted, the Top 54 Boys and 24 Girls were selected for the 1st Batch of the Sports Academy. The Society has successfully archived the entire data so populated from the Tests with individual filing and marking system to check bench marking and future reference. The entire test (phase- I & II) was video graphed.
The successful operation of the Sports Academy hallmarks the dedicated efforts of an effective machinery created between a joint venture of State Govt of Jharkhand and Central Coalfields Ltd. As part of the MoU signed, 07 Sports Academies were required to be operational in one year. The JSSPS is proud to mention that 08 Sports Academies (i.e. Badminton, Hockey, Football, Wrestling, Archery, Taekwondo, Volleyball and Athletics) have been made operational meeting the deadline in a cost effective and ergonomic manner. The segregation of the children in the respective Sports Academies shall however take place only after the International Coaches carry out the pre-conditioning and training of these children. It is estimated that Sports wise distribution of these Children shall take place after 6 months of inception.
The children at the Sports Academy are now being given basic foundation training in general fitness, mannerism and general courtesies. JSSPS aspires to inculcate the feeling of patriotism, feeling of belongingness and honesty by investing its precious resources for the future of India. We are optimistic regarding the endeavor and strive to achieve Nothing but the Best.
The Sports Academies are going to be professionally managed with special emphasis on skill development and concentration on scientific methodology to develop world class players from amongst the students. This unique concept is one of its kind in the state of Jharkhand and provide unique opportunity to the children of this state to embrace their love for Sports.
All the children of the Sports Academy have been given admission in DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu. These children have been provided with Sports Kit, School Books, Uniforms, Stationary. The JSSPS shall soon seek proposals from reputed schools for commencement of operations in the premises of Khelgaon for the Academic Year 2017-18 onwards.
The proposed University is planned at the Mega Sports Complex, situated in Hotwar. Central Coalfields Limited in a joint initiative with State Govt of Jharkhand shall open and operate the Sports University by 2018. The proposed sports University shall be governed by the Memorandum of Association, Memorandum of Understanding and Sankalp of State Govt. of Jharkhand. The University will offer state of the art facilities to enhance the physical, psychological, spiritual and intellectual development of young sports person. It would serve a key institution for promotion and development of sports in the state.
